A few days ago, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) released its annual report, detailing the current top threats in the field of cybersecurity.
In its “Threat Landscape” report, which covers the period from June 2023 to June 2024, ENISA analyzed thousands of recorded cyber incidents to produce a detailed analysis. The top threats listed are:
- Ransomware,
- Malware, and
- Social engineering attacks (Phishing & others).
The top 7 is rounded out by: 4) Data breaches, 5) Threats against availability (DNS), 6) Information manipulation and interference (FIMI), and 7) Supply chain attacks.
Another interesting finding from the report is that the primary targets of cyber attackers are, first, public administration, followed by the transportation sector, financial services, business services, the general public, and digital infrastructure.
